Update from the academy about lockdown

Update from the academy about lockdown

Please see the updated letter from our Principal about what Government updates mean for our academy

13th May 2020

Dear Parents/Carers,

I hope you and your family have been well during these weeks of lockdown.

Following all the news from Government in the media recently about the easing of the lockdown and the return to school for some students, I am writing to update you on the plans we are putting in place here at Oasis Academy Boulton.

The Government would like pupils in early years settings and those in Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 to return to school from 1st June. However, this is subject to ongoing monitoring of the relevant data and we will update you as necessary. This is in addition to the children who are able to attend now (children of key workers and other eligible children). The Government has published guidance for parents which you can read by searching for ‘Opening schools guidance for parents.’ on Gov.uk. or clicking the link below. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/closure-of-educational-settings-information-for-parents-and-carers.

What does this mean for Oasis Academy Boulton?
The safety of the children and your family and of our staff is our number one priority. The Government has provided a list of actions they would like the Academy to take to ensure that we can open for more children safely. I want to assure you that we are working really hard to put as many of those measures in place as possible and, where we can, we will go above and beyond them.
I know that you will have many questions about returning to school, about how things will work in school in this ‘new normal’ environment. We understand that you will need to feel confident about the arrangements,

As a staff team we will be working hard over the next couple of weeks to make the necessary arrangements - as you can imagine there are lots of things for us to consider. Once we have organised how we will open the Academy safely for Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 children we will be in touch with you again - and by no later than next week to confirm arrangements. At that point, we will provide the opportunity for you to ask us any questions, and to raise any concerns with us.
What do I do now?

Please continue with your child’s remote learning which is on the academy website and please use the class emails to contact the teachers regarding learning if you have any concerns. The food voucher scheme also continues as normal for those eligible.

If your child is in Years 2, 3, 4 or 5, and you are not a key worker or eligible for childcare, there will be no change on 1st June. Please continue to support your child with their remote learning. The Government has announced its intention for the all primary school children to return prior to the summer, but there is no further information on this yet and they have said that this will be kept under review.

Please rest assured that we are taking the re-opening of the Academy extremely seriously. Please be patient with us as we work on the necessary arrangements ahead of 1st June.

Thank you as always for your support.

Yours sincerely,
Mrs Shilpa Rathore - Principal
