Student Leadership Teams

Students in all year groups are encouraged to develop their leadership potential. Boulton Parliament are elected to the Academy Leadership Team and work alongside staff to develop and improve all areas of the Academy including curriculum, policy and peer mentoring. Our Boulton Parliament Leaders are highly respected role models to the younger year groups and outstanding ambassadors for the Academy. Boulton Parliament wear purple jumpers. Our job is to oversee the other leadership teams.

Attendance Monitors play a crucial role in collaboration with our Attendance Officer to encourage consistent attendance within their respective classrooms. Their responsibilities include updating the attendance diamond and effectively relaying ideas and concerns to the attendance officer. As role models, they inspire their peers to elevate the class attendance percentage, thus contributing to achieving the national average.

The Wellbeing Champions, comprised of 8 pupils from Year 3 to Year 6, play a vital role in upholding the safety and happiness of their peers. Students undertook a selection process, involving application and interview stages. Following this, a comprehensive two-afternoon training programme equipped the Wellbeing Champions with the necessary skills for their duty. A rota system ensures their presence during playtime and lunchtime. Distinguished by their distinctive orange lanyards and hats, the Wellbeing Champions embrace the significant responsibility of safeguarding their fellow students. They conscientiously grasp the importance of safeguarding within the academy and the weight of their responsibility whilst on duty. 

At our school, we are proud to have 6 Junior PCSO Officers who have undergone comprehensive training facilitated by Safina, our esteemed local PCSO officer from Handsworth police station. These students were selected by their peers for exemplifying the qualities of a Junior PCSO officer. The graduation ceremony, graced by the chief inspector and his sergeants, was a moment of great pride, marking our school as one of the first schools to achieve this in our local community. 

The Junior PCSO officers undertake various responsibilities with enthusiasm, particularly relishing the task of inspecting parked vehicles and issuing yellow warning fine cards for those in violation of the school's safety regulations. Their dedication to ensuring the well-being of our school community is commendable and serves as an inspiration to their peers.

The Eco-Warriors team consists of 18 pupils form Nursery to Year 6, these children were selected as they displayed how passionately they felt about global issues linked to climate changes and the maintenance of a sustainable life. The Eco-Warriors will be involved in developing eco sites and projects across the academy and help raise the profile of environment and sustainability. This group of 'change makers' will be raising their voices for all things possible for academies to do in help reducing their carbon footprint. 

The Health and Safety (H&S) Squad at out academy comprises 13 dedicated members from Reception to Year 6. These individuals were chosen for their profound understanding of health and safety principles and their desire to uphold safety standards within our environment. Their commitment extends to their daily presence in the academy, where they diligently work towards ensuring the safety of all individuals. The H&S Squad actively scans for potential hazards or unsafe elements within the premises, promptly documenting and reporting any identified issues to responsible adults.

The HICs (Horizon iPad Creative Squad) have three main goals:

1. Being Creative: The HICs will encourage pupils to be imaginative and come up with new ideas by exploring various apps and features on the iPad. This will help them think carefully, solve problems, and learn digital skills that are linked to what they have previously learnt. 

2. Working Together: The HICs will help promote digital learning in our school. By working with their teachers, other students, and different classes, they will show how iPads can make learning more enjoyable and effective in all subjects.

3. Helping Others: As members of the HICs, students will have a chance to be mentors and role models for their peers. They will help others use iPads effectively to improve their learning. This will create a culture of support and sharing within our school. 

Children who become apart of the HICs, will be given the opportunity to gain digital skills, leadership opportunities and build their confidence. 

The aim of the Playground Leaders is to introduce and develop leadership skills in our students, as well as increasing the amount of physical activity undertaken during lunchtime and supporting peers during play. Becoming a Playtime Leader will help raise self-esteem and self-confidence. 

The three main goals for Playtime Leaders are:

1. Inclusivity: Encouraging inclusive play and ensuring that all students have the opportunity to participate and feel included. This involves discoursing exclusionary behaviour and promoting a welcoming and inclusive environment.

2. Organising Activities: Planning and organising games and activities for students to participate in during playtime. These activities will be age-appropriate, fun and engaging. 

3. Promoting Physical Activity: Encouraging physical activity and exercise is important for children's health and well-being. Playtime Leaders can facilitate games and activities that get students moving and active.
